In Memorial for Judy Boren

Featured

A radiant light has left Westside Sound and we are in mourning for the loss of Judy Boren, our singer and keyboard player.  As a memorial to her, we present the following video of Judy singing a heartfelt Christmas song she composed. As far as we know, only the audience at Christmas performances at Piano Source were ever fortunate to heard this composition sung by her.

Judy joined our band several years ago, beginning her big band jazz career.  We have marveled as her singing style developed, encompassing ever more depth of feeling and beautiful phrasing.

For many years, Judy and Jim Boren provided a venue for Westside Sound public performances at the Piano Source, their music store here in Albuquerque.

We fondly remember Judy’s comic side, and her love of laughter and joking around. Commonly, she would decorate the store to fit our band’s monthly theme, even surprising us with silly little hats.

We celebrate a life well lived and dedicated to serving others.

Harry James Revisited

One of our most popular video, refreshed, and re-edited.  Video has four highlights from our performances, including:

* Jazz standard “Birdland,”
* Glenn Miller’s “St. Louis Blues March,”
* Latin flavored “Temptation,”
* and Harry James’ “Two O’Clock Jump.”
